"It is reason, and not passion, which must guide our deliberations, guide our debate, and guide our decision."
Barbara Jordan, July 24th, 1974
"Over the past few decades, more than 2,000 newspapers across the country have closed, leaving many communities without a reliable source of local information. Researchers say this crisis in journalism, driven by changes in technology, is fueling the country's political divisions. Judy Woodruff visited a community in Texas that recently lost its newspaper for her series, America at a Crossroads."
Toni Morrison
"WASHINGTON — The House of Representatives is set to vote Thursday on the Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act, a bill that would give the incoming Trump administration new power to muzzle, punish, and effectively shut down tax-exempt organizations without transparency or appropriate due process. This misguided piece of legislation would impact a wide range of tax-exempt organizations, including nonprofits, universities, and even news outlets." ACLU, November 20th, 2024

START HERE: My Dad put Organized Crime on the Front Page of The Cleveland Press. I grew up with The New York Times and Wall Street Journal and later The Financial Times delivered and on the kitchen table every morning. Weekends included... My Mom, a Journalist and Author, spent her life fighting for Women’s Rights, Civil Rights and Her Family. In 1977 she penned (NYT), “Is There Justice For Women.” My Mom was born and raised in Appalachia... Mt. Lookout, West Virginia. She graduated from West Virginia Univ. with a degree in Journalism. Then went on to cover The Courts for the Lorain Journal. Where she met my Dad. My Mother authored four books, primarily on Women, one on education... how to pay for college. My Dad's parents immigrated from France and landed at Ellis Island. He was born and raised in New York, on Long Island. Career wise his newspaper experience led to 25+ years with IBM during the computer and data processing era that put a man on the Moon. He rose to become the company's top Communications person in Armonk, NY. Then along came the personal computer...
APPLE, XEROX, PARC, SILICON VALLEY...
That's me. That's my DNA.. My Mom & Dad. I simply picked up at the point in time my Mom left off at in the late 1990s and could no longer fight for Women's Rights, Civil Rights and her Family. Back when I passed on a Wall Street career and trading options. How I ended up for the most part back and innovating and investing is another story to be told. My Mom's footsteps though lead me to the path I'm on. My Dad's work coincided with -- and put me at forefront of -- the Tech Revolution. Ironically, it was working with my Mom that had the two of us in the office of the CEO of Xerox and knowing him as I did. In the exact same time period that he was investing in a hot pre-IPO company by the name of APPLE who's CEO was offered full access, if you will, to Xerox's Palo Alto Research Center PARC in California. That's where he saw the GUI that would become the innovation catalyst not only for APPLE but the entire Tech Revolution. Then a new supercomputer in every hand took off with APPLE's iPhone in 2007 and here we all are.
Stay tuned and in touch with that story. We need to also fasten our seat belts for 2025. That supercomputer in your hand is also on four wheels now. Innovation and The Rate of Change is 10x faster than it was in 2007. What used to take 30 years, now takes 3.
Not just sayin... AI & DEEP TECH are next. Freedom of the Press will benefit the most from AI & DEEP TECH, same as our Health.
Combined it is my parent's unwavering and total belief in Freedom of the Press and that the pen truly is mightier than the sword that has determined my path forward. Along the way forward I've met and shaken the hands of Jackie Robinson, Betty Friedan and Jim Henson.. I Innovate and Invest, pen in hand.
Altruist, Author, Innovator...
Jackie broke barriers and lead the way for all of us by his example both on the field and off. Jackie not only set the tone at the top, he was and still is the tone at the top... Betty wrote a book that sparked the Feminist Revolution. She got the first wave of a new generation of Women to stand up tall for themselves and to get out of the house and into jobs they were more than qualified for, earning a living,.. Jim dreamed big and created a show of tolerance, understanding and fun that communicated in a way that children could understand and responded to. In doing so Jim not only enriched our children's lives, but all our lives around the globe and on every street and street corner.
Jackie and Me...
I don't think anything had a bigger influence on me than shaking Jackie Robinson's hand. His warmth, graciousness and his ability to talk and focus for just that minute of time on just me so that it seemed only the two of us was a once in a lifetime experience. All that Jackie was, his words of wisdom and most of all that he lead the way, lives on in my heart and the hearts of countless others. Jackie's electricity or whatever we discover that electricity to be, has been with me every day since, constant and true. Thank you #42.
Never have I lost sight of just how important Freedom of the Press is to America and the World. The stronger a Global, National and Local Free Press is, the less fragile Freedom & Democracy are. We're all in this together. At this moment in history we are again in Democracy's Hour. It is up to all of us to make sure this is Democracy's Finest Hour.
I was friends with and emailed for over 25 years with one of the greatest writers of our time, the late Sharon Begley. What she said here needs to be said over and over again until people get it: "What diseases would have been cured by now, what new planets & species discovered, what scientific mysteries solved if so many women hadn’t been driven away?” Sharon Begley, STAT
Now, Not Ten Years From Now...
It's Time For Women To Be In The Room with All the Money. Now, not ten years from now. Far too many men and too few women make the decisions that determine and shape our existence and limit human's true potential. War has come from men, period. Peace will be found when Women have lasting peace. Women must not be afraid. Nobody should live in fear, worry about the next meal and a roof over their head, or lose sleep over their healthcare and the health and well being of family, friends and the environment... Most of all, who owns their body!! AI & Deep Tech and Innovation must provide new energy so that we may have the opportunity to learn, read, see, touch and feel new things. Peace On Earth to wherever you travel the goal...
Good Times...
To one and to all, PEACE AND SAFE TRAVELS. Let's get to the fun part as quickly as possible. #
